Start with an available, nearby location
For everyday browsing or a call, begin with a location reasonably close to you. A shorter geographic distance can be a useful first guess, but the route taken by your internet provider also matters. The closest city is not automatically the best-performing connection.
As of 13 October 2026, mVPN offers Amsterdam in the Netherlands, Limburg an der Lahn in Germany and Lviv in Ukraine. Availability can change; the locations shown in your app or dashboard are the ones to use. mVPN does not currently advertise a worldwide set of country-specific servers.
Compare the same activity, not just a ping number
Latency is the time taken for a response; download throughput is the amount of data transferred over time. A low latency result does not promise a particular download speed. Calls also depend on delay variation, packet loss and the service you are using.
- Confirm that your Wi-Fi or mobile network works before starting the VPN.
- Connect to one available location and try your normal activity: a familiar HTTPS page, a call or a small download.
- Note the result and connection time. Pause unrelated large transfers while comparing.
- Disconnect, choose another location using the app or dashboard setup flow, reconnect and repeat on the same device and network.
A speed test itself transfers data and can consume a prepaid VPN balance. Use it deliberately, rather than repeatedly running large tests. Record the result as a measurement of that session, not a promised future speed.
Change location using the correct connection path
In the native mVPN Android app, select a server offered in the app and verify the connected status after switching. Choosing a name alone does not prove the tunnel has changed or is active.
For manual WireGuard use, obtain the configuration for the chosen location from your account and follow the supported import steps. A saved profile may have a specific server endpoint. Importing or activating the correct profile is safer than manually editing Endpoint, DNS or AllowedIPs.
Keep the current working configuration until the alternative is ready. If you revoke or replace a profile, its earlier QR code or file may stop working. The account dashboard shows the supported options for your profile.
A VPN server country does not change your mobile plan
Using a Netherlands VPN location while abroad does not turn your SIM into a Netherlands mobile plan. Your phone still reaches the VPN over hotel Wi-Fi or your carrier network, and roaming charges can still apply. Check the active network and your carrier plan before large transfers.
A remote location also does not guarantee access to a particular website, stream or banking service. Services may use account region, device information and their own access rules as well as IP location. Follow the service rules and applicable local requirements.
If every location feels slow, check the common factor
When the same activity fails across several locations, compare the connection without the VPN or on another trusted network. Hotel sign-in pages, a weak mobile signal, competing downloads or a network restriction can affect every server choice. Keep your device security protections enabled during testing.
If the tunnel shows connected but pages do not load, follow the connection checklist before changing configuration settings. Tell support the device, app version, network type, selected location, time with timezone and what changed between tests. Do not send private keys, QR codes or complete configuration files.
Common questions
Which mVPN country is always the fastest?
There is no verified universal winner. Compare the locations currently offered using the same device, network and activity.
Does changing servers reset my prepaid balance?
No. Server choice does not create a separate purchased data balance. Check the account usage and balance shown in mVPN.
Can I choose a country that is not in the server list?
Use the locations actually offered in the app or dashboard. A guide or country name does not add a server to the product.
